Romain Bonenfant was a case handler in the Directorate-General for Competition of the European Commission (DG Comp). He worked on merger and antitrust cases in various industrial sectors, notably basic materials.
At the national regulatory authority for telecoms (ARCEP), Romain also headed the directorate in charge of broadband and ultrafast broadband networks. As an example, he conducted a review of the regulatory framework for fixed access and contributed to complement the rules for fibre-to-the-home (FttH) access.
He participated in the negotiations on the telecom regulatory environment at EU level.
Through these experiences, Romain built a practical expertise on complex regulatory issues, based on sectoral or general competition rules.
