Romain Bonenfant joined Emerton after a 10-year experience in the industry, telecom and public sectors.
Prior to Emerton, Romain was as an advisor to the French Prime Minister on industrial affairs, in particular on high-stakes matters as regards the management of State shareholdings and industrial policy.
He has an in-depth knowledge of the telecommunications industry. He was involved as a diplomat in the negotiations of EU telecom legislative proposals on behalf of the French government, before heading the directorate in charge of broadband and ultrafast broadband networks at the national regulatory authority (ARCEP). He also worked on mining and basic material markets.
Romain has a practical expertise in competition and regulatory matters. He was a case handler dealing with merger and antitrust cases in the Directorate-General for Competition of the European Commission, and worked for the French telecoms regulator (ARCEP).
Romain graduated from Ecole polytechnique and Ecole nationale supérieure des mines de Paris (“Corps des mines” engineer). His early work experience includes Thales and the trading arm of EDF.
